What is Base58?

Base58 is a binary-to-text encoding scheme used primarily in cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin. It uses a specific alphabet of 58 characters that omits visually similar characters (0, O, I, l) to avoid human transcription errors.

What is Base58Check?

Base58Check adds a 4-byte checksum to the data, making it easier to detect errors. It's used for Bitcoin addresses and WIF private keys. The checksum is the first 4 bytes of a double SHA-256 hash of the data.
