Frequently Asked Questions

How does the scaling work?

The scaler divides your target servings by the original servings to get a scale factor. Then it multiplies every ingredient amount by that factor. For example, scaling a 4-serving recipe to 6 servings gives a 1.5x factor, so 2 cups of flour becomes 3 cups.

Will it convert units for me?

The scaler preserves your original units to avoid confusion in the kitchen. It does not auto-convert units (e.g., cups to grams) because precise conversions depend on the ingredient density. We recommend using a kitchen scale for best accuracy when needed.

What if my scaled amount is awkward?

The tool shows precise decimal amounts (e.g., 1.33 cups). In practice, 0.33 cups is about 5 tablespoons + 1 teaspoon, and 0.5 cups is 8 tablespoons. You can round to the nearest practical measurement.

Can I save my recipes?

Currently, recipes are not saved to any server for privacy. You can copy the scaled recipe to your clipboard and paste it into a notes app or recipe manager. A save-to-local feature may be added in the future.
