A checksum is a validation digit automatically calculated and appended to barcode data (in EAN-13 and UPC-A). It ensures the barcode scans correctly and prevents errors. If you provide 12 digits for EAN-13, the tool auto-calculates the 13th checksum digit.

Can I use these barcodes for commercial products?

Yes, but note that retail barcodes (EAN-13, UPC-A) for commercial products should ideally be registered with GS1 to ensure global uniqueness. For internal use, prototypes, or testing, unregistered barcodes work fine.

Why is my barcode not scanning?
